Siegburg, 10 October 2003 - The Internet is making the world a smaller place: That's true for modern communications as it is for server administrators. LEUNIG's new SmartViewWorld is the first product to combine proven KVM functions through geographically limited KVM and CAT5 routes with external access through LAN, WAN and the Internet.
Up to four users at once can access up to 512 servers: one through IP - and therefore regardless of the actual distance from the servers - and the other three from local workstations through conventional KVM connections of up to 20 metres. Through CAT5 extenders, two further administrator workstations can be located up to 500 metres away. In total, six workstations can be connected, the remote CAT5 stations sharing their access with two of the local workstations on an automatically managed first-come-first-serve basis. All users have the same, standardized user interface.
Remote access without special software
Access is through IP and Ethernet and/or direct dial-in through an external modem. The user interface is provided by any Java-capable browser, so that no additional client-side software is needed. User convenience and a high level of security are ensured with SSL V2/V3 encryption and up to 256 user profiles with individual passwords.
Built-in help for system crashes
A further special feature of the SmartViewWorld is its ability to be combined with ePowerSwitch series devices. The ePowerSwitches allow any crashed connected servers to be switched off and on again with a simple mouse-click. In this configuration, the ePowerSwitch's user interface is integrated in the on-screen menu of SmartViewWorld, which is also used to configure the device and select the servers to be switched.
