This page describes how to directly control a demo
setup with an ePowerSwitch located at the Leunig facilities
using a modem connection. This is not a public web page. Somebody at LEUNIG
has given you this URL for test purposes. Instructions

German from the Leunig Website.
- Start a Terminal Program such as Hyperterminal
on your computer which is connected to a modem.
- From the Terminal Program configure your modem
to 9600 Baud, 8 bit, 1 Stop bit, no parity, no hardware
flow control.
- Dial 49 (0) 2241-176623 .
- When connected, press <Tab> and <Return>.
- You will now see the Main Menu of the serial connection
- as if you where directly connected to this ePowerSwitch

If you see something other than the above Main Menu,
press the <Escape> key once or twice until
the screen appears like above. - Follow the instructions from the ePowerSwitch
manual or what you see on the screen. It is quite
self-explanatory.
- After your tests, please press the <Escape>
key until you see the Main Menu before you disconnect.
Notes
- The unit you are configuring, may also at this
moment be on-line in the Internet for other demonstration
purposes. Please do not modify IP-adresses, Subnet
masks, Gateway adresses, IP-Filters, User names
or Passwords. Thanks!
- There may be different models of ePowerSwitch
connectet to this phone number. However, the user
interface is the same and should be self-explanatory.
- Due to the philosophy of ePowerSwitch, the user
connected physically to the serial port has all
rights without any restriction. This also applies
to a connection to the serial port via modem. Consequently,
security aspects have to be resolved within the
local modem - such as passwords, call-back etc.
(not activated in the demo).
- In case of problems with the demo, please mail
to
Leunig
Support
or call +49 (0) 2241-1766-0 Installing a local modem (connected to ePowerSwitch)
- You need a null modem cable (TXD & RXD crossed
plus GND).
- Make sure, the modem is set to fixed 9600 baud,
8 bit, 1 Stop bit, no parity. No auto-negotiation!
- Make sure, the modem does not require hardware
flow control. If possible, set the modem to "No
flow control". In some (theoretical) cases
a special cable might be required.
- We tested with a low-end US Robotcs Sportster
Flash modem and a high-end modem
from Blatzheim
which we recommend because of it´s security
features. Please note that we can not give support
for any other modem. |
